E Mare Merces-  Wages from the Sea was the motto of the City of Halifax, Nova Scotia before amalgamation into a regional government.  This view of Halifax is from the Dartmouth Commons across the harbour.  The great blue heron is a common site in marshy areas around here.  Acrylic on canvas.
